The Road Most Travelled

When it comes to love
Common sense takes a hike
We listen, but don’t hear
We talk, but don’t speak
Hearts thump and groins ache
We are pre-occupied
And everything outside the pre-occupation
Is deemed unworthy of our attention

All our waking thoughts flow
Into one person
There is a tendency to forget about our own needs
This thinking is both selfish and unselfish
We make fools of ourselves readily

When eyes are firmly focused in one direcntion
And hearts are broken and mended
Over and over again
Letting go becomes a nightmare
This has the power to become obsessive
common sense is on hiatus indefinitely
These feelings encourage mutiny against ones self
Do I? Don’t I?
Will I? Won’t I?
This time it is over…is it?

We become blithering bags of uncertainties
And strangers in the mirror of our befuddled minds
When it comes to love
Common sense does not prevail.
Isn't it wonderful?
