And so the circle of love turns
Beneath a furrowed brow it churns
The passion now forever lost
Emotions frayed and boldly tossed
She knows she didn't matter much
He did not truly want to touch
He had the reasons all mapped out
His promises that came to nought
So many years just came and went
She should have known his heart was bent
And in his shortened message dear
His knowing words were crystal clear
It was her custom to be hurt
She also knew he loved to flirt
Her spirit sank when others charms
Took her place within his arms
She waited with a duty torn
Of loyal breeding she was born
And as the sun rose on her pain
Her hopes and dreams again were slain
So callously her love was used
The downward spiral of abuse
A home prepared though undeserved
Is for another now preserved
She taught her spirit to be calm
Among the oft remembered charm
And knew that with a quiet mind
Her soul would heal and she would find
A kindred heart...
Not of his kind...
